Kris Jenner is shedding light on the health concerns that led to a major surgery in 2024. The reality television matriarch revealed doctors found a growing abnormality during a routine scan, prompting her to move forward with a hysterectomy after medical experts advised it was the safest option.

Kris Jenner is speaking candidly about the medical issue that resulted in her hysterectomy in 2024.

During a May 5, 2026 appearance on Dear Media’s “SHE MD” podcast with Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi and Mary Alice Haney, the Kardashian-Jenner family matriarch reflected on the series of appointments that led to the surgery. Jenner explained that the concern first appeared during one of her annual Prenuvo full-body scans.

According to Jenner, doctors initially detected a very small area on her ovaries that they decided to monitor over time.

“They saw a little tiny tiny spot on my ovaries,” Jenner said during the interview. She recalled being told, “‘We’ve got a spot. We’re going to keep an eye on it.’”

At first, the issue did not require immediate treatment. However, a later scan showed a change that caused concern.

When Jenner returned for another screening the following year, she said the spot had increased slightly in size.

“It had grown a little tiny bit,” she explained. “And she said, ‘It’s time to take care of that. It’s growing, so let’s get it out of there.’”

The discovery ultimately led Jenner to undergo a hysterectomy, which viewers later saw referenced during the 2024 season of Hulu’s “The Kardashians.”

Why Doctors Recommended Surgery

Although the growth was determined to be benign, Dr. Aliabadi explained why doctors wanted to act quickly once they noticed changes.

During the podcast conversation, the physician said ovarian growths are treated differently in women who are postmenopausal.

“After menopause, you’re not ovulating,” Dr. Aliabadi said. “So, you’re not supposed to have anything growing on your ovary.”

She explained that some cysts can remain stable and harmless, but continued growth often leads doctors to recommend removal.

“Now, if it’s stable and it stays stable, most of them are benign,” she explained. “You can watch, but if anything grows in the ovary, I don’t like it.”

Jenner did not indicate that the cyst was cancerous. Instead, the decision for surgery appeared to be based on caution and prevention after doctors observed changes between scans.

The reality star previously allowed parts of the experience to be filmed for “The Kardashians,” giving viewers a look at her emotional conversations with family members before the procedure.

Jenner Discusses Her Experience With Ozempic

Elsewhere in the interview, Jenner also addressed her past use of Ozempic and the side effects she experienced while taking the medication.

The Type 2 diabetes drug has become widely known for its weight-loss effects, especially among celebrities. Jenner admitted she was one of the early people in Hollywood to try it for weight management.

However, she said the medication quickly became difficult for her to tolerate.

According to Jenner, the side effects became so intense that they began interfering with her work schedule and daily routine.

“‘I called her up one day,” the media mogul recalled. “And I go, ‘I can’t work anymore. I can’t, I’m so sick. I can’t like, nauseous.’”

Jenner said she reached out to Dr. Aliabadi after struggling to function while taking the medication. The doctor then helped her transition to another approach.

A Different Wellness Routine Worked Better for Her

After discontinuing Ozempic, Jenner said she and her doctor explored other options to help support her health and energy levels.

She explained that she eventually started using supplements along with peptide injections. Jenner did not reveal the specific type of peptides involved, though she clarified she is no longer taking Ozempic or any GLP-1 peptide injections.

The television personality said the new routine had a noticeable impact on how she felt physically.

“I felt like I had more energy,” Jenner shared. “And of course, it’s good for hair, and nails, and skin and all of that stuff.”
